My Parents Could Not Afford My Fees So I Dropped Out Of School – Olamide
Viral sensation and rapper Olamide has not always had it rosy while growing up. Just like many regular Nigerians out there, the YBNL boss had to deal with deprivation and other relatable challenges.
One of such challenges the ‘Wo’ crooner remembers is the fact that he couldn’t complete his tertiary education because of paucity of funds.
During a Summer Camp put together by the Ogun State government at Akin Ogunpoola Model College, Olamide was a special guest brought in to inspire the participants. The multiple awards winning rapper shared his grass to grace story to inspire the folks.
He told that he was where he is as a result of his dedication to his talent, hard work and grit.
Here is what Olamide told the students.
“I am from Ogun State here, I do not joke with my culture and language, in fact, I came from a poor background. I had to drop out of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, when it was getting difficult for my parents to pay my school fees.
“However with doggedness, perseverance and hard work I was able to find myself where I am today.”
